The United Arab Emirates has never failed to impress me, in terms of architecture. They are able to completely transform what was once a desert full of nothingness into an unimaginable city full of wonders.
The world's tallest hotel, Burj Al-Arab resides here.
There's the trendy-looking Abu Dhabi International Airport.
The jaw-dropping Dubai Marina. As for the term "Marina", you guys can check it out here. You guys must have heard about the Burj Dubai, the soon-to-be the tallest man made structure in the world. It will be completed by 2009.The World real estate project development is a group of artificial archipelago constructed in the shape of the world map. Who would have thought of doing such a feat! And to think that this project has recently been successfully completed! You can start purchasing your own private "country" here :P
Ras Al-Khaimah might be one of the lesser part of the emirates, but they sure shows some balls as to prepare a list of ambitious projects.
- Bab Al Bahr. The ultimate destination of the Al-Marjan Island, brings alive a vision. The vision to create the ideal home that makes basking in the warmth of idyllic island living possible.
- RAK Financial City. This 750,000 m2 project valued at USD0.8 Billion, will include uniquely designed towers ranging from 30 to 65 floors, which will contain offices, residential apartments, hotels, commercial areas and related services. A novel architectural approach has been used to design this property, which brings out a softer, more fluid, sculptural manner. Design work for RAK Financial City commenced in December 2006."
Impressive, isn't it?
And so on~ It's too many to list down everything!
Very ambitious projects, I must say. I wonder how UAE will look like in the future, when all these projects are complete. I'll add UAE to my list of "Must Visit Countries" :P
To think that Brunei's best modern architectural structure is the DST Tower T-T Brunei sure has a looooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnng way to go. I wish somehow the government will revive the utterly destroyed Jerudong Park or reconstruct the Kampong Ayer, as a start.
More updates coming soon!
